We like to say Alphabet Mafia SoCal was our Covid baby.

The early months of the pandemic were a wild and weird time. In 2020, with COVID-19 looming and businesses scaling back to the bare essentials, many people found themselves cooped up at home with more than a little extra time on their hands. It was during those days that a tiny spark of inspiration started to bloom. 

Around that time, the term "alphabet mafia" had been getting tossed around a lot. It started out as a slight against the queer community (referring to the continually growing LGBTQIA+ initialism). However, queer folks being the resilient mofos we are, we adopted it as our own—embracing the badassness of the name and the fact that heck yeah, we are always evolving and discovering new depths of our identity and our sexuality. 

Which, of course, got us thinking: What a great name for a business. 

Fast-forward to today, and Alphabet Mafia SoCal is a proud, queer-owned brand dedicated to the diverse and vibrant queer community. We view our customers as part of our chosen family, and we celebrate identity expression by designing and selling clever, quirky, and stylish apparel that goes beyond rainbow-themed goods. Here, folks can find unique pieces that allow them to embody their true selves and showcase their pride. 

Of course, we didn't only set out to sell cool stuff with a queer edge. 

From the beginning, our goal has been to build a community of LGBTQIA+ people (and allies) to celebrate ourselves, our love, and our rights as humans. By championing queer causes and connecting with like-minded individuals and businesses in our area, we hope to change the minds and hearts of those who still live in fear and ignorance. 

A portion of proceeds from every Alphabet Mafia SoCal sale is reinvested into local LGBTQIA+ and social justice organizations to provide direct aid where it's needed most. This includes Redlands Mobile Distro, a weekly mutual aid project assisting unhoused people, and the Yucaipa Valley Animal Placement Society (YAPS), which offers a safe haven for pets in need. 

Through these efforts, we strive to create a supportive and connected network, ensuring that our community continues to flourish and make a positive impact.

We're also here to have a little fun. 

Because hey, if queer folks excel at anything, it's the overwhelming joy that comes from authentic self expression. So go ahead, get silly, pick out something that makes you smile, and wear it with pride. You're f**king fabulous, and it's time to let the world know.
